Online Classes: Obedience and Rally
Training for competitive obedience and rally can be fun!! Engagement, energy, precision, you can have it all!
I remember my first introduction to classes at the local obedience club was with a service dog in training I was fostering. It was primarily group "heeling" in a big circle for what seemed like ages. Then a whole lot of stays and maybe some position changes with the dog next to us. It certainly did not inspire me to want to learn more about the sport!
When I came back onto the training scene years later with the first dog of my own, I didn't think I wanted to actually compete in obedience. YouTube was pretty new and there were already a ton of videos of people having fun with dog tricks. I embraced it, and suddenly found myself doing very complex trick routines! I love breaking things down and experimenting in my training.
And I brought that same attitude I have toward training tricks into my obedience training.
You'll see in my classes that we split things down and start with very simple steps for all the fancy exercises. Right from the start. Start scent articles, baby go outs, and fancy pivot skills from the first sports foundation class.
Get geeky with me and break down those position changes into precise actions that will have onlookers holding their breath.

TEAM Obedience 1
This is THE program in how I start my dogs for obedience, rally, and just great sport foundations in general. It provides great structure and a road map for how to progress your foundations into actual exercises!
Start with all the fun stuff from the start, split down to baby versions!
Learn pivoting, snappy and precise position changes, scent articles, go outs, chin rests, backing up and more!
TEAM Obedience 2
Continue your foundations for obedience and rally! New stuff at this level includes teaching retrieves and "marking"/teaching a look forward cue for sends.
And we'll take the other foundations from level 1 and keep progressing to the next stage! Progress your fancy pivot in heel and get rid of the target. Bring your position changes into heel and keep them straight! Introduce a retrieve for your scent articles. And more!
TEAM Obedience 3
This is where your foundations start to get put into mini chains! It feels like real obedience!
Combine marking, jumping, and a send away to get a full go out! Test your dog's understanding of positions at a distance while you have fun touching your toes, lying on the ground, or standing on one leg! Learn how to work with more distractions and rewards at a distance.
TEAM Obedience 4+
The higher levels of the TEAM program take you to skills beyond utility!
Keep working on testing your dog's understanding of their behaviors as you combine things in fun and very unique ways!
This class is taught as a handler's choice class with supported lectures for the overall skills needed at higher levels. Students can work on open, utility, FCI, or levels 3 or higher of the TEAM obedience program.
From TEAM to Trials: Building Chains for the Novice Ring
This class is a combination of the "skills" needed to compete in novice obedience (heeling, fronts, exams...), and the "ring prep" needed to actually have a confident and happy dog!
The class brings in components of both my Bye Bye Cookie class and my Ring Confidence class to either give students more structure if they've worked on both before, or a great intro if this is all new!
From TEAM to Trials: Building Chains for the Open Ring
This is a super fun skills based class! We look at how to teach the open exercises from retrieves to a fast drop on recall!
I highly recommend taking this pretty early in your dog's obedience career. Once they have that foundation set (roughly TEAM 1 and 2 goals).
Ideal prerequisites include: position changes with targets, pivots without a perch, and cone sends.
I am in love with heeling, but working on open skills long before your dog is ready to train in novice is a great way to keep things fun for both of you!
Gloves & Go Outs!
A class focusing on the 2 send away exercises in obedience!
Learn how important marking is to both these exercises in preventing errors on the send. Find the straight line, and ignore distractions like more obvious gloves or jumps!
This class is great for any level of dog. Way more fun to start utility skills long before they start in novice! Get great problem-solving skills too!
This class will take an in depth look at all things exam related from agility measurements to the obedience ring. Use a start button to give your dog control over the start and end! This helps both our nervous dogs feel empowered, and removes conflict from our wiggly hyper greeters! We will teach them that this exam is not about petting!
Oh, and this class will also have fun diving into stands in general. Teach a boingy "pop" stand, a stand at a distance, and a moving stand.
Dive into teaching obedience scent articles! This class will take you from start to finish and a whole lot of problem solving and games!
You do not need a retrieve to start this class!
My online classes are conducted through Fenzi Dog Sport Academy. With online classes you get access to full step by step lectures on how to teach the topics, problem solving common issues, and plenty of video examples ( I LOVE videos!)! You can digest all the information while sitting at home in your pjs and refer back to the information as often as you need!
Classes run for 6 weeks but you keep access to the lectures for at least a year!
